Join us on this magical journey filled with scenic delights, natural wonders, sumptuous food and amiable companions.  Based for four nights in Coffs Harbour, each day branch out to explore the scenic coastline from Nambucca Heads to South West Rocks.  Travel the magnificent Waterfall Way to Armidale. Driving this stunning route is like touring through a giant pop-up book – turn one corner and an enormous mountain range jumps out of a green valley, turn another and a waterfall leaps out at the road before your very eyes. Next, visit the magnificent Hunter Valley during the Christmas Lights Spectacular.  It makes you feel like a child again – a fairyland of lights and Christmas characters that everyone knows no matter what your age.  With over two million lights on display, it just keeps getting better every year.  Then experience a different kind of light show with the New Year’s Eve fireworks display over the North Pole.  We’re sure you’ll be delighted with the many special features of this delightful festive tour.

Tuesday, 24th December:  All aboard as we depart the Wide Bay for ten days of festive fun.  An early start for our travelling companions between  Hervey Bay and Caboolture.  Brisbane and interstate passengers join us at Roma Street Transit Centre and Gold Coast passengers join us en-route.  Travel to Ballina for lunch then enjoy the scenic beauty of the Northern Rivers as we continue to Coffs Harbour.  Four night stay Breakfree Aanuka Beach Resort    

Please note:  All rooms have showers over the bath.


Wednesday, 25th December:  Merry Christmas to you all!  Time to relax and enjoy the resort facilities and/or attend church services before a delicious buffet Christmas lunch with all the trimmings right at our resort.  For seafood lovers, there is a scrumptious selection of fresh local seafood which includes fresh king prawns, oysters and whole baked salmon.  Lunch includes three hours of standard beverages including beer, wine, soft drink and juice.  After lunch, relax and enjoy a sightseeing drive to Forest Sky Pier which offers sweeping views of the mountains and coast.


Thursday, 26th December:  Today your journey will take you south to miles of sun spoilt beaches, heritage river towns and villages, rich farmland and forest.  Enjoy a morning tea cruise on the Nambucca River followed by a delicious lunch at the Riverside Tavern at South West Rocks.  After lunch, visit the infamous Trial Bay Gaol, with its glorious views of the Bay.  After a relaxing day, return to Coffs Harbour.


Friday, 27th December:  Another great day of sightseeing today as we explore Coffs Harbour.  Our first stop is the famous Big Banana for morning tea and a Theatre & Plantation tour, then on to Butterfly House for a guided tour.  Stroll in tranquil surroundings amongst hundreds of live Australian butterflies and learn about their lifecycle.  Our final visit for the day is to the Clog Barn where you can watch a clog making demonstration, browse the shop and visit the miniature village.


Saturday, 28th December:  Prepare yourself for a day of scenic delights as we leave Coffs Harbour and travel along the Waterfall Way.  Our first stop is at the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre and Skywalk in the Dorrigo NP.  Enjoy a bird’s eye view from the canopy-top platform and discover some of the highlights of the rainforest and wildlife.  Our next stop is Dangar Falls.  This very pretty twin falls can be seen from a viewing platform at the picnic area as it plunges into the Bielsdown River.  Next, a picnic lunch at Ebor Falls picnic area and time for a short walk.  On to Wollomombi Falls; the view is said to be particularly spectacular after heavy rain.  Arrive in Armidale for a short drive of the historic buildings before settling into our accommodation.  Stay All Seasons Motel Armidale    


Sunday, 29th December:  Farewelling our hosts travel south to Tamworth for a visit to the Golden Guitar Tourist Centre, then on to Scone for lunch at the RSL.  After lunch, it’s off the beaten track for a scenic drive to the Glennies Creek Dam.  Walk across the dam wall for views of the lake and Mount Royal Range.  The curved wall is 67 metres high and 535 metres long.  Leaving the dam continue on to Pokolbin.  Three night stay Mercure Resort Hunter Valley    


Monday, 30th December:  This morning make our way east to Nelson Head Lighthouse where we can admire the magnificent coastal views before boarding Moonshadow V for our Dolphin Discovery Cruise.  After your cruise, enjoy lunch and free time at Fighter World which is dedicated to preserving the proud history of fighter aircraft operations in the Royal Australian Air Force.  Time to return to Pokolbin for a browse through the Hunter Valley Shopping Village before returning to our accommodation.


Tuesday, 31st December:  Take a train ride around the Hunter Valley Gardens this morning with some interesting commentary on the history of the gardens.  Leaving the gardens, we make our way to the Smelly Cheese Shop for a delectable local gourmet cheese and olive tasting.  Enjoy a wine tasting of the unique and distinctive range of wines at Tempus Two Cellar Door before lunch at Harrigan’s Irish Pub.  After lunch, visit the Hunter Distillery, the only certified organic distillery in the Hunter Valley wine region.  Locally owned and operated, the distillery produces an exceptional range of top-shelf spirits.  Next, we weave our way to the Hunter Valley Chocolate Company to sample the delicious chocolate and perhaps buy a little something to take home.  Return to our motel to rest up for our special evening. Tonight, celebrate New Year’s Eve in style during Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular.  Explore the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest and most breathtaking display of over two million lights, then experience a different type of light show with the 9.00pm fireworks display over the North Pole.


Wednesday, 1st January 2020:  Heading north, travel to Nabiac to visit the National Motorcycle Museum with over 800 motorcycles, the museum is Australia’s largest collection of vintage, veteran and classic motorcycles.  On to Kempsey for lunch at the Slim Dusty Centre before we continue on to Grafton.  Stay Quality Inn Grafton    


Thursday, 2nd January 2020:  Stop at Woodburn for a final morning tea together, then on to Tropical Fruit World at Duranbah for lunch and some free time.  Cross the border back into Queensland and arrive in Brisbane mid-afternoon and in the Wide Bay early evening.
