Sunday, 27th August: Continue along the Newell Highway through the heart of NSW. At Coonabarabran view the rugged peaks of the Warrumbungle National Park. Stop for lunch at Gilgandra then travel west to Cobar. Stay Town and Country Motor Inn.

Monday, 28th August: Head further west along the Barrier Highway. Travel to Wilcannia to tour the town and see the impressive sandstone buildings of a bygone era when Wilcannia was a key inland port for paddle steamers. Further across the barren wastelands of NSW to the ‘Silver City’ of Broken Hil. Stay Ibis Styes Broken Hill.
DAY 4 BROKEN HILL – PORT AUGUSTA BD
Tuesday, 29th August: Travel to Peterborough and enjoy some free time to explore the town and purchase your lunch. Next, experience a little of the rugged beauty of the lower Flinders Ranges travelling through Horrocks Pass on our way to Port Augusta. Visit the Wadlata Outback Interpretive Centre where hands on displays feature the history of outback South Australia followed by a guided tour of the unique Arid Lands Botanic Garden. DAY 5 PORT AUGUSTA – CEDUNA BLD
Wednesday, 30th August: Join the Eyre Highway, to Kimba where we pause for morning tea and a photo stop at the 8mt Big Galah and browse the locally mined and crafted jade at the Halfway Across Australia Gem Shop. Arrive at Ceduna, known for its great telecommunications dishes that are Australia’s eyes and ears, absorbing a constant flow of the World’s images and chatter. Stay Ceduna Foreshore Motel.
DAY 6 CEDUNA – BORDER VILLAGE BLD
Thursday, 31st August: At the Head of Bight National Park and Interpretive Centre follow a cliff-top boardwalk to a whale viewing platform from where migrating whales may be seen. The majesty of the escarpments and the pounding of the Great Australian Bight by the Great Southern Ocean will have you mesmerised. Various stops will be made to allow photographs of the beautiful coastal scenery. Stay Border Village Hotel Motel.
DAY 7 BORDER VILLAGE – NORSEMAN BLD
Friday, 1st September: A big day today as we pass through two time zones to Western Australian time. Near Eucla visit the old telegraph ruins almost completely buried by shifting white sands and see the tiny outpost settlement of Eucla. Our westward journey continues through Cocklebiddy and Balledonia, made famous when Skylab debri showered the town in 1979. Our Nullarbor crossing ends at Norseman, situated on the banks of Lake Cowan. Stay Norseman Great Western Motel.
DAY 8 NORSEMAN – ESPERANCE BD
Saturday, 2nd September: After a sightseeing tour of Norseman, make our way to the picturesque seaside town of Esperance for a visit to Esperance Stonehenge, a full size replica of the original Stonehenge in the UK, as it would have looked around 1950BC. Stay Best Western Hospitality Inn.
DAY 9 ESPERANCE – ALBANY BLD
Sunday, 3rd September: Travel west to the village of Borden on the edge of the Stirling Range NP for lunch. Leaving Borden, travel through the wildflower rich Stirling Range NP to Albany where we visit Torndirrup NP to capture the breathtaking sights of the spectacular coastal formations including the ‘Blowholes’, ‘Natural Bridge’ and ‘The Gap’, a huge granite bridge-like suspension. Stay Ace Motor Inn.
DAY 10 ALBANY – AUGUSTA BLD
Monday, 4th September: Travel via Denmark to the Valley of the Giants. Walk along the Treetop Walk taking you through spectacular giant Tingle trees 40 metres above the forest floor. For land lovers, try the Ancient Empire Gloucester Tree, a magnificent Karri housing the world’s highest tree fire lookout. At Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse your local guide will explain the history of the old limestone lighthouse, guiding vessels at one of the only two places in the world where two great oceans meet. DAY 11 AUGUSTA – PERTH BLD
Tuesday, 5th September: Just north of Augusta enter the underground world of Jewel Cave. These limestone caves are considered some of the best in the world with unusual formations and coloured limestone. On to Margaret River for lunch and a tasting at Brookwood Estate, then on to Busselton Jetty, the longest timber piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. The jetty is home to a state-of-the-art Interpretive Centre, Cultural Heritage Museum and stunning Underwater Observatory. Three night stay Comfort Hotel Perth City.
