Friday, 7th August: An early start for travelling companions joining between Hervey Bay and Caloundra. Interstate, Brisbane & Gold Coast passengers join in Brisbane City (location to be advised). Travel west to Toowoomba, and then join the Moonie Highway to St George. Stay Merino Motor Inn
DAY 2 ST GEORGE – LIGHTNING RIDGE BLD
Saturday, 8th August: Arrive in Lightning Ridge in time for lunch followed by a visit to the Chambers Of The Black Hand – a collection of hand carvings and an informative and entertaining tour of an old opal mine. Next, some free time to explore the shops and finally finish the day with a little sightseeing. Stay Wallangulla Motel
DAY 3 LIGHTNING RIDGE – BOURKE BMLD
Sunday, 9th August: Continue our journey pausing for morning tea and a guided tour of the Brewarrina Fish Traps which are estimated to be over 40,000 years old and one of the oldest man-made structures on earth. Travel on to Bourke for lunch. After lunch, visit the Back O’Bourke Exhibition Centre before a sunset cruise along the quiet waters of the Darling River aboard the PV Jandra Paddleboat (subject to water levels). DAY 4 TRILBY & DUNLOP STATIONS BMLD
Monday, 10th August: Start our morning exploring the tiny settlement of Louth on the banks of the Darling River. On to Trilby Station for a delicious homemade morning tea followed by an interesting guided tour with our host Liz Murray. Next, make our way to historic Dunlop Station. Once a million acres and host to the first shearing shed to use mechanical shears. Tonight enjoy dinner with at Kidman’s Camp whilst experiencing some exceptional Australian poetry, local stories & music.
DAY 5 BOURKE – WHITE CLIFFS BMLD
Tuesday, 11th August: Head west along the Bourke-Milparinka Road to Wanaaring where we pause for morning tea, then on to White Cliffs. This afternoon look forward to a guided tour, visiting the opal fields and showrooms. Stay White Cliffs Underground Motel.
DAY 6 WHITE CLIFFS – WENTWORTH BMD
Wednesday, 12th August: This morning, make our way to Broken Hill. After some free time for lunch (own expense), reboard your coach for a visit to the Silver City Mint & Art Centre to see ‘The Big Picture’, the World’s largest acrylic painting on canvas by a single artist. Travel to the river town of Wentworth, where the ’little grey’ Ferguson tractor wrote itself into the annals of local history through the integral part it played in saving Wentworth from the 1956 floods. DAY 7 WENTWORTH – ADELAIDE BMD
Thursday, 13th August: A fabulous day of sightseeing today beginning with the Perry Sandhills. The striking red sandhills date back to an ice age 40,000 years ago. Crossing the border into South Australia, it’s on to Banrock Station for morning tea and a wine tasting. Enjoy some free time at Waikerie to purchase lunch before continuing to Adelaide. DAY 8 BAROSSA VALLEY SIGHTSEEING BMLD
Friday, 14th August: This morning visit the Taste of the Region Interpretive Centre at Kapunda where you can navigate through the colourful history of the region. Also, enjoy a walk around the Copper Mining Trail and a visit to the Kapunda Museum. On to Seppeltsfield Winery, the most historic winery and greatest showpiece of the Barossa Valley. At the cellar door sample a diverse selection of wines. A delicious lunch and tasting at the Jacob’s Creek Visitors Centre is followed by a guided tour. Return to our accommodation.
DAY 9 ADELAIDE – VICTOR HARBOR BD
Saturday, 15th August: Saturday, 15th August: After a leisurely breakfast it’s all aboard to start our Kangaroo Island adventure! Travel through the Adelaide Hills to Mount Lofty Summit for a glorious panoramic view of Adelaide. Time is allowed for you to browse the souvenir shop and to purchase your morning tea before making our way to the magnificent Jurlique Farm for a ‘Behind the Scenes’ tour of their biodynamic farm. See and learn the nature and fascinating science behind the world-renowned skin care products. Next, free time in the quaint German town of Hahndorf to purchase your lunch and explore this charming place before arriving in Victor Harbor. Two night stay Apollon Motor Inn
DAY 10 VICTOR HARBOR – GOOLWA SIGHTSEEING BD
Sunday, 16th August: This morning travel to Hindmarsh Island to view the Murray Mouth which is the point where the river Murray meets the Southern Ocean. Retrace our steps to Goolwa for some free time to explore. Collecting your tickets for the Horse Drawn Tram and SA Whale Centre from your tour leader, you are now free to explore the delightful attractions of Victor Harbor.
DAY 11 VICTOR HARBOR – KANGAROO ISLAND BLD
Monday, 17th August: This morning join the 9.00am Sealink Ferry at Cape Jervis for transfer to Kangaroo Island. Upon arrival collect our tour guide for a full day of sightseeing. Highlights include Clifford’s Honey Farm, Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Oil Distillery, and Emu Bay Lavender Farm. Finally, at Kingscote enjoy some free time before making our way to American River to our accommodation. Two night stay Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge
DAY 12 KANGAROO ISLAND SIGHTSEEING BLD
Tuesday, 18th August: After breakfast more touring of the island’s unspoilt secrets. At Flinders Chase NP enjoy breathtaking views from Remarkable Rocks and at Cape du Couedic Lighthouse, see Admirals Arch, a natural land bridge. Watch for New Zealand Fur Seals as they frolic near the rocks. At Seal Bay, enjoy a beach tour where you can stroll through a wild seal colony. Return to our accommodation for our final night on Kangaroo Island.
DAY 13 KANGAROO ISLAND – ADELAIDE BD
Wednesday, 19th August: This morning board the Sealink 2000 for return to the mainland. Return to Adelaide for free time in Rundle Mall to purchase lunch, then enjoy a guided tour of Haigh’s Chocolates. Next a visit to the Art Gallery of South Australia before settling in for our final night at our accommodation. Stay Adelaide Inn

DAY 15 ADELAIDE – BAROSSA VALLEY – PROUD MARY BLD
Friday, 21st August: A fabulous day of exploring the Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley today. See how quality wooden toys are made in Gumeracha’s working Toy Factory and of course there is the world’s biggest Rocking Horse. Onward to the National Motor Museum to view Australia’s biggest Motoring Collection. Each piece holds a special story. Time to move on to the historic Herbig Tree estimated to be between 300 – 500 years old. This hollow tree trunk provided a ‘home’ for Friedrich and Caroline Herbig and two of their 16 children until 1860 at Springton! Enjoy lunch amongst picturesque Barossa vineyards at the South Australian Company Store. At Saltram Wine Estate enjoy tasting some of the most proclaimed wines made in Australia. Late afternoon, our final visit is to the Whispering Wall which offers great views of the Barossa Reservoir. Leaving the Barossa Valley head to Murray Bridge where we have some free time at the Community Club whilst we wait to board the Proud Mary. DAY 16 PROUD MARY SIGHTSEEING BMLD
Saturday, 22nd August: Breakfast heartily whilst cruising upstream through some of the most spectacular scenery on the entire Murray River system. Late morning stop in the historic town of Mannum. After a delicious lunch on board arrive at Teal Flat. A highlight of the journey is a guided cruise led by an ecologist aboard a small boat through the lagoons and inlets of this sanctuary. This evening enjoy a traditional Australian BBQ on shore followed by live Aussie Bush entertainment around a blazing campfire.
DAY 17 PROUD MARY SIGHTSEEING BLD
Sunday, 23rd August: Heading downstream arrive mid-morning in picturesque Mannum. Here, board the waiting coach for a tour of the Reedy Creek Environmental Park. Lunch is a superb buffet with fresh local produce as the Proud Mary cruises downstream. This afternoon there will be more spectacular scenery before disembarking in Murray Bridge. Stay Mannum Motel

Monday, 24th August: Start our day with a visit to the Mannum Dock Museum then on to the Monarto Zoo, the largest open range zoo in the world. After lunch continue onto Mildura. Stay Commodore Mildura

Tuesday, 25th August: Travel the Sturt Highway to the Balranald Discovery Centre then on to Hay for lunch and free time at Shear Outback. Stay Kidman Wayside Inn

Wednesday, 26th August: Travel east and join the Newell Highway for morning tea at West Wyalong, then on to Parkes Observatory Visitors Centre.
