DAY 1   HERVEY BAY – COFFS HARBOUR   D

Saturday, 20th January:  Pick up passengers from Hervey Bay to Roma Street Transit Centre Brisbane.  Continue through Gold Coast to Coffs Harbour.  Stay Opal Cove Resort.

DAY 2  COFFS HARBOUR – ARMIDALE  BLD

Sunday, 21st January:  Depart Coffs Harbour, travel to Dorrigo via Bellingen.  Stop at Bellingen for a walk around then on to Dorrigo Rainforest Centre & Skywalk for lunch.  After lunch stop at Dangar Falls Lookout for photos then continue along the Waterfall Way stopping at Ebor Falls for a short 30 minute walk along the three viewing platforms, then on to Wollomombi Falls Lookout before making our way to Armidale. Stay All Seasons Motel Armidale.

DAY 3  ARMIDALE – POKOLBIN  BLD

Monday, 22nd January:  Make our way to our morning tea stop at the First Fleet Gardens at Wallabadah then continue to the Golden Grape Estate in Pokolbin for lunch and a wine tasting.  After lunch visit Twenty-3-Twenty Chocolate & Fudge Factory and the Hunter Valley Cheese Company before settling in to our accommodation.  Enjoy a delicious dinner followed by a visit to the Hunter Valley Gardens for the dazzling Christmas Lights Spectacular.  Stay Mecure Resort Hunter Valley.

DAY 4  POKOLBIN – WOLLONGONG  BLD

Tuesday, 23rd January:  Enjoy a free morning this morning to visit the Hunter Valley Gardens or an activity of your choice before making our way to Gosford for lunch at the RSL.  After lunch, make our way to Wollongong via the magnificent Seacliff Bridge.  Stay Novotel Wollongong Northbeach.

DAY 5  WOLLONGONG – COOMA  BLD

Wednesday, 24th January:  Leaving Wollongong, travel along the Illawarra Highway with its magnificent views through Macquarie Pass to Robertson where we pause for morning tea at the famous Robertson Pie Shop.  After lunch, make our way to Bungendore for lunch with some free time to explore this quaint little village.  Our next stop is the Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre in Cooma followed by some free time to explore town before settling into our motel.  Stay Kosciuszko Motor Inn.

DAY 6  COOMA – BEECHWORTH  BLD

Thursday, 25th January:  Farewell to Cooma and off the Jindabyne travel the Alpine Way through the beautiful Kosciusko National Park.  Travel through the Murray Valley via Corryong and Tallangatta to arrive at the Bright Berry Farm in Eurobin for a delicious taste of some of North East Victoria’s finest berries then, on to Beechworth for a short visit to the Beechworth Historic Precinct.  Stay Carriage Motor Inn.

DAY 7 BEECHWORTH – MELBOURNE  BLD

Friday, 26th January:  This morning we make our way to Olinda via Alexandra and Healesville.  Enjoy lunch at the Cuckoo Bavarian Restaurant followed by a visit to the National Rhododendron Gardens then make our way to St Kilda to our accommodation. Three night stay Crest on Barkly.

DAY 8  CAPE SCHANCK, QUEENSCLIFF & GEELONG  BD

Saturday, 27th January:  Get ready for a great day of exploring today.  Make our way down the Mornington Peninsula to Cape Schanck Lighthouse.  Enjoy time to explore the area and walk along the boardwalk taking in the magnificent view of the cliffs overlooking the Bass Strait.  On to Sorrento for lunch before we catch the Searoad Ferry.  Sit back and relax as we cross Port Phillip Bay to Queenscliff where we visit Fort Queenscliff for a guided tour.  Leaving Queenscliff we return to St Kilda via Geelong.

DAY 9  MELBOURNE FREE DAY  BD

Sunday, 28th January:  A free day today to explore at your leisure.

DAY 10  SPIRIT OF TASMANIA 

 Monday, 29th January:  A free day in Melbourne today.  Late afternoon board the Spirit of Tasmania for overnight transfer to Devonport.  Tonight, enjoy dinner at the Captains’s table.  Accommodation, Spirit of Tasmania, twin share cabin.

DAY 11  DEVONPORT – SMITHTON  BD

Tuesday, 30th January:  Disembark at approx. 7.30am at Devonport Terminal.  Enjoy breakfast at the Rectory Cafe before a sightseeing drive along the beautiful northern western shoreline to Table Cape Lighthouse for morning tea then on to Stanley for a guided tour of Highfield Historic House.  Free time for lunch with a view – of the Stanley Nut, a sheer sided bluff, all that remains of an ancient volcanic plug.  For the adventurous, a chairlift ride (own expense) to the top of ‘The Nut’.  Next a guided tour and afternoon tea at the delightful Allendale Gardens before settling in to our motel.  Stay Tall Timbers Hotel.

DAY 12  SMITHTON – CRADLE MT – STRAHAN  BLD

Wednesday, 31st January:  This morning travel through the rainforest of Hellyer Gorge State Reserve to the pristine World Heritage listed Cradle Mountain – Lake St Clair National Park.  Enjoy a guided tour of Waldheim and gorgeous Dove Lake to see spectacular Cradle Mountain.  After lunch at the Cradle Mountain Hotel travel through the mining towns and hydro electric towns of Rosebery and Tullah as we travel to Strahan.  Two night stay Strahan Village Hilltop.

DAY 13  GORDON RIVER CRUISE BLD

Thursday, 1st February:  This morning join World Heritage Cruises for a memorable Gordon River Cruise where the wilderness comes to the water’s edge.  You’ll be awestruck by the beauty of the dark waters, stained amber by buttongrass tannins, reflecting the untouched wilderness.  We stop at Sarah Island and discover the ruins of the brutal penal colony.  Se Hell’s Gate and heritage Landing, site of the 2,000 year old Huon Pine.

DAY 14  STRAHAN – HOBART  BLD 

Friday, 2nd February:  Leaving Strahan travel via Queenstown to the Wall in the Wilderness.  The Wall is carved from three-metre-high wooden panels which tell the history of the harsh Central Highlands region. Next, discover the magic of Russell Falls, the jewel in the crown of Mt Field National Park.  After lunch at the Waterfall Café we continue our journey to Hobart.  Three night stay Quality Hobart Mid City Motel.

DAY 15  SALAMANCA MARKETS & HUON VALLEY  BD

Saturday, 3rd February:  Time this morning for a visit to the iconic Salamanca Markets.  The diverse range of nearly 300 stallholders are sure to have something for everyone.  Re-joining your coach travel through the beautiful Huon Valley – what better time to visit than in the middle of berry season!  Your coach captain will find the perfect opportunity for you to purchase some delicious fresh black cherries or perhaps some plump fresh raspberries before arriving at Geeveston for a visit to the Geeveston Forest and Heritage Centre.  After lunch (own expense), head to the Tahune Forest Airwalk for a guided walk amongst the towering treetops, out over the Huon and Picton Rivers on a cantilevered, suspended walkway.  The views are stunning.

DAY 16  PORT ARTHUR HISTORIC SITE  BD

Sunday, 4th February:  Today, take in the dramatic coastal scenes from the narrow peninsula of Eaglehawk Neck as we travel to Tasman National Park.  Enjoy a fascinating guided walk of Port Arthur’s infamous convict prison and historic site and cruise around the Isle of the Dead.  After lunch, view the ruggedly spectacular sea cliffs from Pirate’s Bay Lookout and for the adventurous traverse the steps to view Remarkable Cave.  On our return journey, see the Tessellated Pavement, Devils Kitchen and the Tasman Arch.

DAY 17  HOBART – BICHENO  BD

Monday, 5th February:  Leaving Hobart, continue to charming Richmond and spend some time exploring this heritage town.  We head north to visit Ross then on to Campbell Town where we pause for lunch.  After lunch, make our way to Brown Brothers, Devils Corner Cellar Door.  Enjoy a wine tasting, sit on the deck and take in the panoramic views of the majestic Hazards and Freycinet Peninsula. Continue to Coles Bay.  Stay Beachfront at Bicheno.

DAY 18  WINEGLASS BAY CRUISE  BLD

Tuesday, 6th January:  This morning, experience the exquisite beauty of the magnificent Freycinet Peninsula with Wineglass Bay Cruises.  Wineglass Bay, nestled underneath the Hazards Mountain range, is a location of primeval peace and beauty.  The experienced and friendly crew guide you through the sights and history of the Freycinet Peninsula; taking you from the gently shores of Coles Bay, to one of the world’s most beautiful beaches.  After this stunning cruise, board your coach and travel via Bicheno to St Helens.  Stay Tidal Ways Resort.

DAY 19  ST HELENS – LAUNCESTON  BLD

Wednesday, 7th February:  Start our day with a visit to Binalong Bay at the southern end of the Bay of Fires then make our way through the lush myrtle rainforest at the Weldborough Pass to Ledgerwood where we pause for morning tea.  Next, visit Bridestowe Lavender Farm for lunch and a guided farm tour before continuing to Launceston’s Cataract Gorge for some free time before settling in to our hotel.  Two night stay Commodore Regent.

DAY 20  TAMAR VALLEY TOUR  BLD

Thursday, 8th February:  A leisurely sightseeing day today as we head north to Low Head to visit the historic Low Head Pilot Station.  Next, cross the Batman Bridge which forges the Tamar River to arrive in Beaconsfield for a guided tour of the Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre, then head to Beauty Point for lunch followed by a guided tour of Seahorse World.  Next, visit the amazing Platypus House for a guided tour of the Platypus ponds to watch them feed and play. Returning to Launceston, stop to explore the quaint Swiss village of Grindelwald.

DAY 21 LAUNCESTON – DEVONPORT  BD

Friday, 9th February:  Travel west along the Bass Highway to Mole Creek Caves for a tour of Marakoopa Cave.  On our Underground Rivers and Glow-worms Tour be dazzled by the caves sparkling crystals, reflections pools, stalactites and stalagmites.  Listen to the music of the underground streams and soak up the silence of abandoned river passages.  Leaving the caves, we head to Trowunna Wildlife Park for lunch followed by a guided tour which includes Devil feeding.  Next, head to Sheffield, ‘the town of murals’ for some free time to check out the delightful murals, then on to Latrobe’s House of Anvers for chocolate tasting.  Sadly our time in Tassie is almost at an end as we make our way to Devonport ready to board the ‘Spirit of Tasmania’ for our return to Melbourne.

DAY 22 MELBOURNE – WEST WYALONG  BLD

Saturday, 10th February:  After disembarking in Melbourne make our way north to the Shepparton Motor Museum for morning tea and time to admire the amazing collection of classic, heritage and muscle cars including motorcycles and vintage bicycles.  Our lunch break today is in Jerilderie then it’s on to West Wyalong for our overnight stay.  Stay Club Inn.

DAY 23 WEST WYALONG – MOREE  BD

Sunday, 11th February:  Resume our journey along the Newell Highway through Forbes and Parkes to Dubbo where we pause for lunch (own expense).  Next a photo stop at Mendooran at the Bushranger murals before continuing on to Moree, for our last night together.

DAY 24  MOREE – HOME  B

Monday, 12th February:  All too soon we are back in familiar territory with arrival in Brisbane mid afternoon.  Northbound passengers stay on board for arrival into the Wide Bay early evening.
