DAY 1 MARYBOROUGH – COFFS HARBOUR          D

Friday, 23rd September: Welcome aboard! An early start for travelling companions joining between Maryborough and Caloundra. Brisbane and Toowoomba passengers join at Roma Street Transit Centre. Gold Coast passengers join enroute. Travel south to Ballina for lunch then enjoy the scenic beauty of the Northern Rivers as we continue to Coffs Harbour. Stay Zebra Motel.

DAY 2 COFFS HARBOUR – GOSFORD          BLD

Saturday, 24th September: Continue our journey southward through Nambucca Heads, Kempsey and the picturesque MACLEAY VALLEY to Gosford and settle in to our accommodation. Stay Quality Inn The Willows.

DAY 3 GOSFORD – QUEANBEYAN          BLD

Sunday, 25th September: Travel along the Hume Highway to the town of Bowral for morning tea in the beautiful CORBETT GARDENS. Continue on to Canberra to TULIP TOP GARDENS for lunch and a wander through the delightful privately owned garden which is only open at Floriade time. Mid afternoon visit the amazing miniature re-creation of an English rural village at COCKINGTON GREEN, complete with river, trains, bonsai gardens and tiny folk going about their business. DAY 4 CANBERRA FLORIADE          BD

Monday, 26th September: Start our day with a drive past the Embassies and High Commission before a tour of NEW PARLIAMENT HOUSE. Now, the chief attraction of the day – Canberra Floriade. The massive springtime displays provide an unrivalled spectacle of fragrance and colour. Complete our day with a visit to the AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL with time to watch the closing ceremony before returning to our motel.

DAY 5 CANBERRA – MERIMBULA          BLD

Tuesday, 27th September: Southward this morning along the Monaro Highway, stop at WHEELER’S OYSTER FARM in Pambula for an informative guided tour followed by a delicious lunch. Next, step aboard the Cat Balou for a Twofold Bay cruise surrounded by the Ben Boyd National Park and state forest, stunning scenery, pristine bays and beaches. Stay Merimbula Gardens Motel.

DAY 6 EDEN – SALE          BLD

Wednesday, 28th September: After a hearty breakfast we’re away to the beautiful Gippsland Lakes District. Stop at the Metung Hotel for lunch then some free time to explore the village before continuing on to our accommodation. Stay Comfort Inn Sale.

DAY 7 SALE – MELBOURNE          BD

Thursday, 29th September: A little magic today as we make our way along the Princes Highway to Silvan for the TESSELAAR TULIP FESTIVAL. More than half a million bulbs display their exotic majesty, a reflection of nature’s miraculous beauty. They encompass every colour from dazzling to delicate hues in patterns most daring and others most plain. But there’s more! Next The Spring Floral Festival at the NATIONAL RHODODENDRON GARDENS at Olinda in the scenic Dandenong Ranges with its unparalleled variety of brilliantly coloured blooms, mainly rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, cherries and daffodils. DAY 8 PHILLIP ISLAND          BLD

Friday, 30th September: A full day today as we depart for Phillip Island. Our first stop is the beautiful ROYAL BOTANIC GARDENS AT CRANBOURNE. After morning tea, travel on to historic CHURCHILL ISLAND for lunch and a guided tour of the Heritage Farm before moving on to PANNY’S AMAZING WORLD OF CHOCOLATE. Mid afternoon take a walk along the boardwalk at THE NOBBIES for a spectacular ocean view before our dinner visit to the PENGUIN PARADE. After viewing the little penguins we return to our motel.

DAY 9 MELBOURNE FREE DAY          BD

Saturday, 1st October: A free day in Melbourne to explore the city at leisure before a farewell dinner together.

DAY 10 MELBOURNE – HOME          BD

Sunday, 2nd October: Transfer to Melbourne Airport to join your return flight to home port for passengers choosing the 10 day option. A free day in Melbourne for passengers travelling to Tasmania. Late afternoon board the Spirit of Tasmania for overnight transfer to Devonport. Tonight enjoy dinner onboard at the Leatherwood Restaurant. Accommodation: Spirit of Tasmania, twin share cabin.

DAY 11 BRISBANE – MELBOURNE          BD

Sunday, 2nd October: Passengers fly from Brisbane to Melbourne today to join the Best of Tasmania tour. A free day in Melbourne for passengers travelling to Tasmania. Late afternoon board the Spirit of Tasmania for overnight transfer to Devonport. Tonight enjoy dinner at the Captain’s table. Accommodation: Spirit of Tasmania, twin share cabin.

DAY 12 DEVONPORT – LAUNCESTON          BLD

Monday, 3rd October: Enjoy breakfast aboard ship this morning before disembarking at approximately 7.30am at the Devonport Terminal. Make our way to Beauty Point for a guided tour of SEAHORSE WORLD. Next, visit the amazing PLATYPUS HOUSE for a guided tour of the Platypus ponds to watch them feed and play. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the Tamar Cove Restaurant followed by a visit to the BEACONSFIELD MINE AND HERITAGE CENTRE. Mid afternoon settle in to your motel. Two night stay Commodore Regent.

DAY 13 LAUNCESTION SIGHTSEEING          BD

Tuesday, 4th October: Begin our day with a visit to BOAG’S BREWERY for an informative tour of the facilities then, for the beer lovers an ‘educational’ tasting session. A special treat this morning is a visit and morning tea at the historic mansion WOOLMERS ESTATE, home of the Archer family for the last 175 years. Returning to Launceston, free time to purchase lunch and explore the beautiful CATARACT GORGE. Later, discover the Tamar Valley and the Swiss village of GRINDELWALD before returning to our accommodation.

DAY 14 LAUNCESTON – SWANSEA          BD

Wednesday, 5th October: A guided tour at BRIDESTOWE LAVENDER ESTATE gets things rolling. Travel through the lush myrtle rainforest at Weldborough Pass on through St Helens to Binalong Bay, the gateway to the famous Bay of Fires. Arrive in Bicheno for lunch and a tour at EAST COAST NATUREWORLD. After lunch, make our way to FREYCINET NP where a walk to Cape Tourville Lookout unveils astonishing views. Continue on to our overnight accommodation with its stunning ocean views. Stay Swansea Motor Inn.

DAY 15 SWANSEA – PORT ARTHUR          BD

Thursday, 6th October: Continue to charming Richmond and spend some time exploring this heritage town. Afterwards, take in dramatic coastal scenes from the narrow peninsula of Eaglehawk Neck as you travel to Tasman National Park and see the TESSELLATED PAVEMENT, DEVILS KITCHEN and TASMAN ARCH. DAY 16 PORT ARTHUR – HOBART         BD

Friday, 7th October: Today, a fascinating guided walk of PORT ARTHUR’S infamous CONVICTS PRISON and historic site and a cruise around the Isle of the Dead. View the ruggedly spectacular sea cliffs from Pirate’s Bay Lookout. Weather permitting make our way to the summit of Mt Wellington for an amazing view of Hobart. Three night stay Fountainside Hotel.

DAY 17 SALAMANCA MARKETS & HUON VALLEY          BLD

Saturday, 8th October: Time this morning for a visit to the iconic SALAMANCA MARKETS. The diverse range of nearly 300 stallholders includes original, hand-made Tasmanian pieces, from woodwork to jewellery, fashion to fanciful, glassware to ceramics. Then over the undulating hills of the apple-growing Huon Valley, to the impressive FOREST AND HERITAGE CENTRE in Geeveson which tells the story of the area and the surrounding forests. Next, we make a beeline to the TAHUNE FOREST AIRWALK for lunch and a walk amongst the towering treetops, out over the Huon and Picton Rivers on a cantilevered, suspended walkway. The views are stunning.

DAY 18 BRUNY ISLAND ADVENTURE CRUISE          BLD

Sunday, 9th October: A remarkable voyage of discovery this morning as we head for BRUNY ISLAND for our ECO ADVENTURE CRUISE. Bruny Island boasts stunning natural cliff formations among the tallest in the world. Monday, 10th October: Discover the magic of RUSSELL FALLS, the jewel in the crown of Mt Field National Park. Next, continue to the pristine World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. Visit THE WALL IN THE WILDERNESS, before travelling through the mining town of Queenstown to our four star accommodation. Two night stay Strahan Village Hilltop.

DAY 20 GORDON RIVER CRUISE          BLD

Tuesday, 11th October: This morning join World Heritage Cruises for a memorable GORDON RIVER CRUISE where the wilderness comes to the water’s edge. You’ll be awestruck by the beauty of the dark waters, stained amber by buttongrass tannins, reflecting the untouched wilderness. We stop at SARAH ISLAND and discover the ruins of the brutal penal colony. See Hell’s Gate and Heritage Landing, site of the 2,000 year old Huon Pine.

DAY 21 STRAHAN – CRADLE MOUNTAIN          BLD

Wednesday, 12th October: Discover the mining towns and hydro electric towns of Rosebery and Tullah as we travel to the sensational CRADLE MOUNTAIN NP. After lunch enjoy a guided tour of Waldheim and gorgeous Dove Lake to see spectacular Cradle Mountain. Stay Cradle Mountain Chateau.

DAY 22 THE NUT, STANLEY – SMITHTON           BD

Thursday, 13th October: This morning travel through the rainforest of Hellyer Gorge State Reserve to Wynyard on the north coast for morning tea. En route to TABLE CAPE, home of tulips, you’ll think you’re in a butter commercial on your drive through rolling green hills with Friesian cows galore. Visit HIGHFIELD HISTORIC SITE, which was built by the Van Diemen’s Land Company, for a guided tour of the estate. Free time for lunch with a view – of the THE NUT, a sheer-sided bluff – all that remains of an ancient volcanic plug. For the adventurous, a chairlift ride (own expense) to the top of ‘The Nut’. Next, a guided tour and afternoon tea at Allendale Gardens before settling in to our accommodation. Stay Tall Timbers Hotel.

DAY 23 WOOLNORTH & CAPE GRIM          BD

Friday, 14th October: Travel to Woolnorth where we visit Roaring 40’s Wind Farm. Hear about this exciting part of Woolnorth’s ever-changing landscape and stand on the impressive west coast at the viewing gallery. From the wind farm we head on to CAPE GRIM which is also on the rugged west coast and has spectacular scenery where you can breathe the cleanest air in the World. After lunch travel east along the coast through Penguin and Ulverstone to Launceston. Stay Commodore Regent.

DAY 24 SPIRIT OF TASMANIA           BD

Saturday, 15th October: Free time this morning to discover the charm of Launceston. Perhaps a visit to City Park located opposite your accommodation. This beautiful parkland features mature trees and shrubs, a display of annual flowers, a Japanese Macaque monkey enclosure, the John Hart Conservatory, a duck pond, senses garden, monuments, chess boards, historic Albert Hall. At 1pm board your coach and make our way to SHEFFIELD, the town of murals, then on to ANVERS CHOCOLATE FACTORY, Latrobe for a chance to taste some chocolate. At 4.30pm board your coach to Devonport for our return journey to Melbourne aboard the Spirit of Tasmania.

DAY 25 MELBOURNE – WAGGA WAGGA           BLD

Sunday, 16th October: A travel day today as we disembark in Melbourne and head for Albury for lunch. Continuing on to Wagga Wagga to our motel. Stay Australian Homestead Motor Lodge.

DAY 26 WAGGA WAGGA – DUBBO          BLD

Monday, 17th October: Make our way north to Temora for a morning break then continue on to West Wyalong for a picnic lunch. Resume our journey along the Newell Highway through Forbes and Parkes. Beyond Parkes, see in the distance ‘THE DISH’ of the huge Radio Telescope. Cross over the Macquarie River to arrive in Dubbo for an early end to the day and a well earned rest. Stay Golden West Motor Inn.

DAY 27 DUBBO – GOONDWINDI          BLD

Tuesday, 18th October: See the Warrumbungle Ranges in the distance on the way to Coonabarabran for our morning break. Enjoy a delightful scenic drive north through Moree to the Queensland border town of Goondiwindi. Stay Goondiwindi Motel.

DAY 28 GOONDIWINDI – HOME          B

Wednesday, 19th October: All too soon we are back in familiar territory with arrival in Brisbane mid afternoon. Northbound passengers stay on board the coach for arrival into Maryborough and Hervey Bay early evening.
