An early start for travelling companions joining between Hervey Bay and Caloundra. Brisbane and Gold Coast passengers join us at Brisbane Roma Street Station. Travel the Cunningham Highway to Warwick where we stop for lunch at the Criteron Hotel. Follow the rocky outcrops of the Granite Belt into New South Wales and enter Tenterfield through an impressive avenue of golden poplar trees. Continue on to Glen Innes for an afternoon break at the Australian Standing Stones then only a short run to Armidale to be greeted by a charming and graceful city that features leafy tree-line streets, stately churches and historic monuments. Stay All Seasons Motel Armidale.

Saturday, 15th April: Through trees ablaze with colours of gold, red, rich browns and scarlet, we continue south along the New England Highway and pass through Uralla, where the bushranger, Captain Thunderbolt is buried. After a fascinating morning of zoological sightseeing enjoy a relaxing lunch at the Bowling Club, then on to the Old Dubbo Gaol. See authentic gallows where eight men were hanged and listen to the hardships of prison life and the deeds of desperate bushrangers.
