Travel through the picturesque Blue Mountains region, not to be missed is the breathtaking scenery from Govett’s Leap Lookout and Echo Point. Watch clogs being made at the Clog Barn at Coffs Harbour. DAY 1 HERVEY BAY – ARMIDALE LD
Monday, 2nd July: All aboard for a delightful holiday that will refresh your senses and leave you with a feeling of tranquility and peace. An early start for passengers joining between Hervey Bay and Caloundra. Stop at Warwick for lunch at the historic Criterion Hotel, then continue along the New England Highway to Glen Innes for a photo stop at the AUSTRALIAN STANDING STONES before continuing on to Armidale. Stay All Seasons Armidale Motel.
DAY 2 ARMIDALE – GULGONG BLD
Tuesday, 3rd July: Travel through the Liverpool Plains this morning to the small town of Werris Creek where we pause for morning tea. Continue south for a picnic lunch at Coolah, one of the many homes of the legendary Black Stump, then on to the 19th century gold rush town of Gulgong where we visit the HENRY LAWSON CENTRE, a museum dedicated to Lawson’s life and literary works, and to the family, friends, literary characters and places that filled his years. Our final stop for the day is at the award winning GULGONG PIONEERS MUSEUM, home to one of the finest collections of Australiana in the country. Stay Ten Dollar Town Motel.
DAY 3 GULGONG – KATOOMBA BD
Wednesday, 4th July: Continuing our journey south, stop at PEARSONS LOOKOUT which affords one of the best views of the majestic CAPERTEE VALLEY. Surrounded by the wonders of World Heritage Listed wilderness, the Capertee Valley is the world’s second largest canyon. After morning tea in Lithgow, stop at GOVETTS LEAP LOOKOUT to take in the World Heritage view across the Grose Valley in the Blue Mountains National Park. Moving on to Katoomba, enjoy some free time to purchase lunch and visit THE THREE SISTERS LOOKOUT at Echo Point. After lunch, we stop at the WARADAH ABORIGINAL CENTRE to enjoy the award winning Waradah Aboriginal Show. Experience a smoking ceremony, discover the dreamtime story behind the creation of the Didgeridoo; and witness Corroboree (song and dance) as performed by Aboriginal dancers in traditional paint and costume, then it’s on to SCENIC WORLD. Experience the thrill of the World’s steepest railway, the Skyway Cableway or perhaps a stroll around the scenic Walkway. Stay Skyrider Motor Lodge.
DAY 4 KATOOMBA – GOSFORD BLD
Thursday, 5th July: Leaving Katoomba, travel along the Great Western Highway to Faulconbridge for a short stop at the PRIME MINISTERS CORRIDOR OF OAKS PARK. The Corridor is also significant as a unique commemoration of the successive Prime Ministers of Australia since Federation. Then, a visit to the MUSUEM OF FIRE. With engines dating back to the early 1800’s the Museum of Fire stands as a fitting monument to our heroic firefighters and guards and the heritage and history of their selfless dedication. Continuing on to Jamisontown, enjoy morning tea at BENNETT’S ON THE RIVER, before boarding the NEPEAN BELLE PADDLESTEAMER for a delicious Christmas in July lunch and an unforgettable cruise through the wilderness areas of the Blue Mountains National Park and the Nepean Gorge. After a delightful afternoon, settle in to our accommodation. Stay Galaxy Motel.
DAY 5 GOSFORD – COFFS HARBOUR BD
Friday, 6th July: Travel the Pacific Highway north to Buledulah where we pause for morning tea, then continue through thriving rural communities as we make our way to our lunch stop at the BP Service Centre near Port Macquarie. After lunch, stop at the CAPTAIN COOK LOOKOUT at Nambucca Heads before continuing north to Coffs Harbour to watch a clog making demonstration and see the fantastic miniature Dutch village with working railway at the CLOG BARN. Stay Opal Cove Resort.
DAY 6 COFFS HARBOUR – HOME BL
Saturday, 7th July: Heading north we stop for morning tea at the TASTES OF NEW ITALY CAFE followed by a visit to the NEW ITALY MUSEUM. Continue on to Murwillumbah Services Club for lunch, before arriving in Brisbane mid afternoon and Wide Bay early evening.
