DAY 1 HERVEY BAY – GRAFTON D
Thursday, 21st December: Welcome aboard for a Holly Jolly Christmas! An early start for passengers joining between Hervey Bay and Caloundra. Brisbane passengers join at Roma Street Transit Centre and Gold Coast passengers join enroute. With all onboard cross the NSW border at Tweed Heads for travel to Brunswick Heads. Free time for lunch (own expense) in this beautiful seaside resort. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Northern Rivers as we continue to Coffs Harbour. Stay Comfort Inn The Big Windmill.
DAY 2 GRAFTON – GOSFORD BLD
Friday, 22nd December: Travel the Pacific Highway through thriving rural communities to Kempsey for morning tea then on to Buladelah for lunch. After lunch explore the delightful King Edward Park with its sunken garden and glorious view of the ocean. Continue on to our accommodation. Stay Quality Inn The Willows.
DAY 3 GOSFORD – KATOOMBA BLD
Saturday, 23rd December: A sightseeing tour of the Gosford area is in order this morning before making our way to the World Heritage listed Paramatta Park for morning tea, then all aboard the Nepean Belle paddlewheeler for a delicious buffet lunch and an unforgettable cruise through the Wilderness areas of the Blue Mountains National Park and the Nepean Gorge. Next, a visit to the Museum of Fire. With engines dating back to the early 1800’s the Museum of Fire stands as a fitting monument to our heroic firefighters and guards the heritage and history of their selfless dedication. DAY 4 JENOLAN CAVES BLD
Sunday, 24th December: Be awed today by the magnificent Jenolan Caves, one of the world’s most spectacular cave formations. After a leisurely breakfast, board the coach for transfer to the Jenolan Caves. Arrive in time for lunch at Caves House before our guided tour of the caves. Return to Katoomba.
DAY 5 CHRISTMAS DAY BLD
Monday, 25th December: Merry Christmas! Enjoy a free morning this morning before meeting your fellow passengers for transfer to your lunch venue. Your special Christmas lunch today is at Hotel Blue’s elegant Sisters Blue Restaurant with a tantalising, festive four-course feast. After a delectable meal, retire to Hotel Blue’s Guest Lounge for a game of Pool or Scrabble or just enjoy the ambience. Next, a visit to Scenic World. Enjoy the thrill of the World’s steepest railway, the Skyway Cableway or perhaps a stroll around the scenic Walkway.
DAY 6 KATOOMBA – GULGONG BD
Tuesday, 26th December: Before leaving Katoomba this morning we take a drive to the Three Sisters Lookout at Echo Point for a photo stop and time to browse the shops. Turn northward and make our way to Govetts Leap with its stunning World Heritage views of the Grose Valley. After morning tea provided by your coach crew continue on to Hartley Historic Village, a beautifully preserved 19th century village at the base of Victoria Pass. Hartley offers one of the finest collections of historic buildings in Australia. Onward for some free time in Lithgow to purchase your lunch then continue on to Honey Haven in Mudgee for a mead, honey and ginger drink tasting and talk. Make our way to Gulgong to our accommodation. Stay Ten Dollar Town Motel.
DAY 7 GULGONG – GLEN INNES BLD
Wednesday, 27th December: Leaving Gulgong head north for morning tea in Gunnedah then join the Fossickers Way, one of the oldest and most picturesque touring routes in NSW. The Fossickers Way holds many treasures waiting to be unearthed – from buildings steeped in history to stunning scenery and quaint villages. After a delightful morning of sightseeing stop at Bingara RSL for lunch before visiting the National Transport Museum at Inverell. With over 120 exhibitions of rare, classic and just plain awesome vehicles, you can happily get lost in this place. Our next stop is the Inverell Tourism Complex for some free time to browse the shops including the Billabong Blue Sapphire Shop. Continue on to Glen Innes. Stay Rest Point Motor Inn.
DAY 8 GLEN INNES – HOME BL
Thursday, 28th December: Continue north along the New England Highway crossing the border into Queensland in time to arrive at Glengallan Homestead for morning tea and a guided tour. Glengallan is not just any old house. Uninhabited for more than half its lifetime, it remains frozen in time. The 1867 two-story sandstone homestead is a rare example of a 19th century country house. Moving on, sit back and enjoy the view as we drive along the Gatton Clifton Road through the farming communities of the beautiful Lockyer Valley. Pause at the Staging Post Café at Gatton’s Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre then continue homeward. Arrive in Brisbane mid-afternoon and Wide Bay early evening.
