DAY 1 - HERVEY BAY to BRISBANE to NORFOLK ISLAND     (D)

Thursday 1st May 2025:  Welcome to our 6 day Norfolk Island adventure!  Today we make our way to the Brisbane International Airport for our direct flight to Norfolk Island.  Upon arrival to the island, we are warmly welcomed and transferred to our accommodation to settle in for the next 5 nights.

Stay: South Pacific Resort, Norfolk Island

DAY 2 - DISCOVERING NORFOLK    (BLD)

Friday 2nd May:   We start the day off being introduced to the island on an Island Orientation Tour.  Our tour includes a visit to the convict buildings in historic Kingston and St Barnabas Chapel, built from the ruins of the New Gaol.  We enjoy lunch back at the resort before we visit the property of the late Colleen McCullough.  The world-renowned author of 24 books, called Norfolk Island home for almost 36 years and today we have the opportunity to see into her world.  Colleen and husband, Norfolk Islander, Ric Robinson, created a luxurious hideaway and maintained their privacy to ensure that Colleen had the perfect environment for her writing.  Her beloved property “Out Yenna” is now open and we are escorted through her magnificent home where we are able to view the couple’s priceless collection of artefacts gathered on their travels all over the world.  We will see where her books were researched and where she worked into the wee hours creating the incredible tales that have sold in their millions in so many different languages.  Tonight, we are in for a fun night out at the Night as a Convict Dinner!  We dress as convicts and along with the Commandant, we are in for an evening of gaiety, feasting and singing.  Great food and great fun will be had by all!

Stay: South Pacific Resort, Norfolk Island

DAY 3 - MORE OF NORFOLK ISLAND     (BD)

Saturday 3rd May:   Our immersion into local life continues with a visit to the Pitcairn Settlers Village.  We’ll experience what life was like for Norfolk Island’s most recent settlers, the Pitcairners and their descendants at one of the last few remaining original settler’s properties.  We have some time at leisure before our special evening out to the delightful Island Fish Fry.  Enjoy a traditional Island Fish Feast with local fish, seasonal island dishes, salads, and desserts.  Overlooking breathtaking coastal scenery as the sun sets, with live music in the background and local entertainment from talented Tahitian-style dancers.  After our delightful dinner experience, we join the 1856 The Untold Story tour.  On 8 June 1856 a total of 194 people, descendants from the Bounty, arrived on Norfolk Island from Pitcairn Island in cold, wet blustery conditions.  We will follow their journey in the World Heritage Listed Kingston area as their story is brought to life.

Stay: South Pacific Resort, Norfolk Island

DAY 4 - FOLK MUSEUM AND HIGH TEA    (BHTD)

Sunday 4th May:  Today we take a visit to the quirky Bounty Folk Museum.  Discover the treasure chest of history full of fantastic collections and inspiring stories stretching back to 1788, which tells the strange and startling history of Norfolk Island.  Later we are collected for our High Tea at Bounty Lodge.  Originally built as a warm and welcoming home in the 1920’s the property has seen many changes over the years and now offers boutique accommodation, as well as being a wedding and function centre.  The grounds are stunning and much of the interior still has its historical appearance.

Stay: South Pacific Resort, Norfolk Island

DAY 5 - CONVICTS AND MARINE LIFE     (BD)

Monday 5th May:  This morning will be spent touring from Emily Bay where we take in the unique Glass Bottomed Boat tour.  Our guide will share their knowledge of Norfolk’s marine life and once we’ve “walked the plank” with these ‘mutineer descendants’ it takes a minute to get to the reef.  Here we’re able to view beautiful coral gardens and tropical fish inside the calm crystal waters of Norfolk’s lagoon.  We take a journey with a local historian this afternoon where we learn about the World Heritage Listed Convict Kingston area on the Convict Kingston Tour.  Hear about the Norfolk Islands first settlers, the Polynesians who came 900 years ago, and gain an insight into the first and second settlements as well as facts and legends associated with each.  We have time to freshen up before meeting more locals at the Progressive Dinner.  This is the perfect way to get a taste of the real Norfolk lifestyle.  Starting the night off our first stop is at the northern tip of the island at a clifftop home with amazing ocean views to enjoy pre-dinner nibbles.  Finishing the evening with main course and dessert at a large family home on the southern side of the island.  We will be entertained by our host as they share their island experiences and the historical practices and industries.

Stay: South Pacific Resort, Norfolk Island

DAY 6 - HEADING HOME - NORFOLK ISLAND to BRISBANE to HOME     (BL)

Tuesday 6th May:  We pack up our belongings as we prepare for our return home later today.  We farewell our hosts this morning and make our way to Cyclorama to view the stunning 360° panoramic painting at which continues to impress with its ‘wow’ factor.  It brings to life the Bounty mutiny and the history of the Norfolk Island people.  Our last stop on the island will be lunch at Hilli Restaurant before we are transferred to the airport for our flight back to Brisbane.  Our flight has us arriving in Brisbane early evening after a wonderful holiday.
