DAY 1 - HOME to GOONDIWINDI     (D)

Sunday 1st June 2025:  Welcome aboard for an outback adventure with Down Under Coach Tours. Bags and Akubras packed we have an early start as there’s quite a way to go today. Make stops along the way, including a break to purchase lunch. Our afternoon is spent expressing to our first overnight stop in Goondiwindi.

DAY 2 - GOONDIWINDI to BOURKE     (BLD)

Monday 2nd June:   Make our way to Bourke, stopping for a picnic lunch in Walgett. On arrival in Bourke recapture the romance of the old river-steamers with a one hour sunset cruise along the quiet waters of the Darling River aboard the PV Jandra Paddleboat (subject to water levels).

DAY 3 - BOURKE to WHITE CLIFFS     (BLD)

Tuesday 3rd June:   This morning explore Louth, known for its unusual ‘Shining Headstone’, a remarkable Celtic Cross on the grave of Mary Mathews which glows at sunset. Travel to the town of Tilpa for lunch at the Tilpa Hotel, one of the last remaining bush pubs in Australia. Continue our journey to the unique town of White Cliffs where we check into our underground motel for our overnight stay.

DAY 4 - WHITE CLIFFS to BROKEN HILL    (BLD)

Wednesday 4th June:  Departing White Cliffs, continue west to Broken Hill. Dominating the town is the “Line of Lode” which sits side by side with the Miners Memorial. Stop for lunch at the Musicians Club before our afternoon visit to the Royal Flying Doctor Base at the airport. No visit to Broken Hill is complete without a visit to the Silver City Mint & Art Centre to view the ‘Big Picture’. The world’s largest acrylic painting on canvas that totally immerses the viewer into its huge skies and red rock earth of ancient river beds dotted with gums, leading to the distant Flinders Ranges.

DAY 5 - BROKEN HILL to TIBOOBURRA     (BLD)

Thursday 5th June:  Travel via the Silver City Highway to Packsaddle Roadhouse where we enjoy a slightly earlier lunch today. Arrive into the historic goldmining town of Tibooburra which came into existence with the discovery of gold at Mt Browne and then Tibooburra itself in 1881. Check into our accommodation and settle in for dinner.

DAY 6 - TIBOOBURRA to INNAMINCKA     (BLD)

Friday 6th June:  Travel through the Sturt National Park to Cameron Corner, where the borders of QLD, NSW and SA meet. Crossing red dunes to Merty Merty, encounter the famous Strzelecki Track, first pioneered by cattle duffer Harry Redford. Take a photo at the Moomba Gas Plant Lookout before arriving in Innamincka, made famous by the explorers Burke and Wills on their ill-fated exploration across central Australia.

DAY 7 - INNAMINCKA     (BD)

Saturday 7th June:  Due to the unreliable water source Innamincka once played a major role in the early explorations of Australia’s unknown interior. Today the town services the ever-busy tourist industry and local pastoralists. Visit the ‘Dig Tree’, the location of the base camp for explorers Burke and Wills on their expedition to the Gulf of Carpentaria in 1860. Pause and reflect on the tragedy played out under the tree before returning to the hotel.

DAY 8 - INNAMINCKA to BIRDSVILLE     (BLD)

Sunday 8th June:  Travel through Sturts Stony Desert and see the historic woolshed, Cordillo Downs Station. We go off the beaten track through the picturesque breakaway country to Birdsville. Many of Australia’s pioneering European explorers travelled through the Birdsville district well before the town was gazetted. Monuments to acknowledge the feats of Captain Charles Sturt, Burke & Wills, Madigan, and others are located throughout the town. On arrival check into the famous Birdsville Hotel where we can enjoy a drink with the locals before dinner.

DAY 9 - BIRDSVILLE to BOULIA     (BLD)

Monday 9th June:  Travel to Boulia, pausing at Bedourie where we take the opportunity to see some of the historical sites unique to this town such as the Mud Hut, the Royal Hotel, and the original Police Station, which is now Ethabuka Station. After a little wander we enjoy lunch before venturing forth to Boulia. Upon arrival we make our way to the Min Min Encounter and Visitor Information Centre where we watch the theatrical show dedicated to the story of the Min Min Light phenomenon.

DAY 10 - BOULIA to LONGREACH     (BD)

Tuesday 10th June:  This morning travel east via the timeless landscape of the majestic hills set amongst the open pebbly plains to Cawnpore Lookout. Continuing to Winton, we have time to purchase lunch before visiting the Waltzing Matilda Centre, a world class museum and art gallery. This afternoon arrive in Longreach.

DAY 11 - LONGREACH SIGHTSEEING     (BLD)

Wednesday 11th June:  Meet the local owners of Camden Station for a special experience as we get an insight into the area through the eyes of local graziers and pioneer families. Situated on the vast open Mitchell grass plains it will give us an authentic insight into life on a cattle station in Outback Queensland. Included is a morning tea and a tour of the old shearing shed and the artesian bore complex. After our visit head back to town to the Stockman’s Hall of Fame, a fascinating tribute to the pioneers of Outback Australia. Enjoy the Outback Stockman’s Show and lunch. Later this afternoon prepare for our sunset cruise and dinner on the banks of the Thomson River. Relax on the top deck of the Longreach Explorer and take in 360 degree views of the Thomson River. Enjoy entertaining and informative commentary detailing river and cultural stories. Unwind with complimentary nibble platters and purchase drinks from the licensed onboard cash bar. As the sunset fades into starlight, we dock at Smithy’s Outback Dinner & Show for a night of great food and live entertainment under the stars.

DAY 12 - LONGREACH     (BLD)

Thursday 12th June:  Today visit the historic 1922 QANTAS hanger at the QANTAS Founders Museum. The complex houses the museum, theatrette, exhibition hall and visitor information centre. Our guided tour provides us with an appreciation of the vision and achievements of the Qantas Founders, which is “that Qantas would one day become one of the world’s greatest airlines”. Next, step back in time at the Outback Pioneers Station Store and experience the Harry Redford Old Time Tent Show with our Billy Can lunch. Based on the traditional outback travelling shows, it’s hard not to be charmed by the simple delights of bush theatre. The Harry Redford Old Time Tent Show tells a fictional story set in the time of Harry Redford (Captain Starlight) and refers to his infamous adventures. Take some time to look through the local shops before we return to our hotel.

DAY 13 - LONGREACH to ROMA     (BLD)

Friday 13th June:  An early start this morning as we head towards the final destination of our tour. Stop briefly at Barcaldine to view the “Tree of Knowledge” next to the Barcaldine Railway Station, which marks the spot where the Australian Labour Party was formed. From Barcaldine, make our way through Blackall to Tambo where we stop to visit Tambo Teddies and enjoy lunch. Stitched with love, these teddy bears were created in 1992 by three local women wanting to overcome low wool prices and a drought. Today, three other local women have taken over the business and continue the tradition of handmade teddies from 100% woollen sheepskin. We’ll embark on a tour through the workshop as well as discover the oldest town in the central west. From here we travel through to Roma, the centre of the Maranoa Shire for our final night’s stay.

 DAY 14 - ROMA to HOME     (B)

Saturday 14th June:  This morning we depart Roma for the final stretch home. After a wonderful trip to the Outback arrive Brisbane mid-afternoon and the Wide Bay early evening.

Tuesday 23rd to Friday 26th December 2025 Escape, experience and connect as we journey deep into the forest at O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat - home to a vast array of unique flora and fauna and a nature lovers paradise! Day 1 – Our day begins heading south on the Down Under Christmas sleigh. Lunch will be at the O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyard before entering the Lamington National Park. World Heritage status was bestowed on Lamington in 1994 in recognition of its high biodiversity. It now includes 20,200 hectares of varying forest types, from temperate Antarctic Beech Forest high on the border ranges to sub-tropical rainforests and the dry Eucalypt Forest of the northern escarpment. On arrival settle into our accommodation and enjoy the O’Reilly’s hospitality and the stunning scenery surrounding us. (LD) Day 2 – You can do as little or as much as you like. There are a number of short nature walks you can do yourself including the famous Tree Top Walk. Other activities that are included in our package are the Early Morning Bird Walk, the Bird of Prey Show, a 4WD guided tour or the Glow Worm Tour. (BLD) Day 3 – Merry Christmas!!! Join in with the Christmas Day festivities. Or just enjoy doing nothing this morning and take it all in. Lunch today will be in the restaurant and a real feast will be served. (BLD) Day 4 – Sadly our tour is coming to an end. We commence our journey north homeward bound with lunch along the way. Arrive home this afternoon after a wonderful tour.
