DAY 1 - HOME to YAMBA     (D)

Monday 22nd December 2025:  Welcome to our seven day Christmas in Port Macquarie tour! A travel day ahead of us today as we head down the coast. Stop for lunch (own expense) along the way, before our afternoon visit to Zentveld’s Coffee. Located in the pretty village of Newrybar, gain an understanding of coffee growing, the regenerative practices and environment care as well as the stages of processing, roasting and packing, then enjoying a cup on the verandah. Continue south, arriving in the coastal town of Yamba, known for its relaxed locals and beautiful beaches. Settle into our accommodation before our dinner at the local club.

DAY 2 - YAMBA to PORT MACQUARIE     (BLD)

Tuesday 23rd December:   Depart Yamba and continue our journey along the Pacific Highway, one of the country’s most iconic roads, linking many of New South Wales major cities and towns. Arrive in time for lunch at the Billabong Koala and Wildlife Park, set on seven acres of landscaped gardens with easy walkways and over 50 species of Australian wildlife. After lunch we have time to explore the park, there are various keeper talks to listen to throughout the day, including cheetahs, lions, and the beautiful snow leopards. Continue to our accommodation.

DAY 3 - PORT MACQUARIE     (BLD)

Wednesday 24th December:   This morning we are joined by a local guide for a sightseeing tour. View the Old Court House, Allman Hill, the Garrison building, and historic town green. Next, cruise the beautiful Hastings River with Port Jet Cruises. The captain will supply an interesting commentary of the sites and local history and morning tea is provided. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for dolphins! Back on dry land head to the Sea Acres Rainforest Park, where we enjoy lunch at the Rainforest Café, and time to explore the park. Comprising of 72 hectares of rare coastal rainforest, it is the ideal place to begin your fascinating journey through the National Park. Eco-displays provide a wealth of information about local Aboriginal culture and the surrounding rainforest environment. There are also regular exhibitions of works by local artists, and a gift shop stocking a range of unique environmental products, gifts and crafts.

DAY 4 - CHRISTMAS DAY    (BLS)

Thursday 25th December:  Merry Christmas!! This morning take a scenic drive down the coast on Ocean Drive, through Lake Cathie to Laurieton, taking in the spectacular scenery. Travel up North Brother Mountain for a magnificent view of the Camden Haven area – a great opportunity for a group photo! Return to town for our festive Christmas lunch with all the trimmings! The rest of the afternoon is yours; you may like to simply relax at our hotel or go for a relaxing stroll to walk off Christmas lunch. This evening a supper will be served for those who may be peckish.

DAY 5 - PORT MACQUARIE     (BLD)

Friday 26th December:  Meet some friendly animals this morning when we visit the unique Koala Hospital, a dedicated care, rescue, rehabilitation and research centre for Koalas. Some 200 to 250 koalas are admitted through here annually and we can observe recovery, care and feeding of the koalas. Then off to visit the small community of Wauchope to uncover what life was like 100 years ago at Timbertown. Explore the authentically re-created timber-getters village and displays of a saw mill, church and schoolhouse and ride on a horse and carriage. Go gold panning and watch a blacksmith demonstration. Returning to Port Macquarie, stop for a delicious visit at Vicker’s Fudge for a tasting of their locally made fudge, yum!

DAY 6 - PORT MACQUARIE  to  BALLINA     (BLD)

Saturday 27th December:  Farewell our hosts at Port Macquarie and begin our journey back up the coast. Head north of Grafton, for a visit to Lanbruk’s Gunyah, a property belonging to Dorothy and Don Enders. Enjoy a talk and delicious homemade lunch. The museum is housed in a huge traditional barn on the property that will transport us back to a long gone era before technology. See authentic tools and machinery from the early 1900s including farm tractors, horse drawn implements and Don’s pride of the shed – a fully restored 1927 Chevy Truck. Later this afternoon arrive in the town of Ballina for our last night on tour.

DAY 7 - BALLINA  to  HOME     (B)

Sunday 28th December:  Our tour sadly comes to an end today. Enjoy a continental breakfast this morning before visiting Summerland House Farm. The beautiful macadamia and avocado farm set high on the hills of the Alstonville Plateau is an Aruma (formally House with No Steps) business enterprise which provides training and employment opportunities to people with disabilities. The farm is also in the centre of a volcano that erupted 20 million years ago! After a wonderful visit and morning tea we continue our journey home. Break to purchase lunch at the Gold Coast before arriving home after a wonderful Christmas tour to Port Macquarie.
